Knowing our values, even when we’re not able to live and behave completely in alignment with them, allows us to know ourselves. They are essential for self-awareness. Values are measures we use to tell us if our life is turning out well. When we are living in alignment with our values, it brings contentment and happiness. But when things are out of alignment, we feel unsettled and dissatisfied. This is why it’s important to get clarity on your values and also why they play a key role in understanding your purpose.

Using this Tool

In this tool, you will be shown a series of fifty cards representing commonly held values. For each, you will be asked to evaluate their importance to your life. Following a series of steps that help you prioritize, you will identify three top values that are most essential for you. Time required varies, but we encourage you to set aside at least 30 minutes to allow enough time for thorough reflection. After selecting your top three values, you will be given an opportunity to view or download your results. You can then use these values to consider your broader purpose or your reason to be.
