We’re going through one of the biggest business transformations since the Industrial Revolution. In order to compete in today’s market economy, organizations of all sizes are making a shift from top-down, command and control structures that have been prevalent since the turn of the 20th century to organizations that focus on agility, collaboration and social impact. In this session at the 2017 Global Conference for the World Institute for Action Learning (WIAL) in Shanghai. China, Shannon draws upon recent societal changes and learnings from neuroscience to demonstrate why top-down, authoritative leadership styles are no longer adequate and how coaching and action learning can help create an agile, connected organization through the development of new social leadership skills.
A conversation about questions and curiosity
In 2023, Shannon appeared on the Wordwise Coaching Podcast to discuss curiosity, a key leadership skill from her book Because. She talks with executive coach Rachel Goodwin about action learning, a problem-solving method that combines real challenges with personal development, and shares examples of its impact. This episode shows how asking the right questions fosters creativity, broadens perspectives, and leads to better leadership. Listen on Spotify, Amazon, Audible, or here: https://lnkd.in/ehQW2ukB.
